Educational Kit: A Geopark of Film

This educational kit includes a proposal with 5 educational activities, plus one application activity and a proposal for a final product.

    1. Mining territory
A simple board game is used to present two very different economic systems related to salt production, and a card game leads us to discover mining in the Geopark territory.

    2. Cretaceous Scenarios
Through the game, we explore the changes and adaptations of living beings to the environment. This helps us understand some of the species that inhabited the territory and the changes in the Geopark’s landscape during the Cretaceous period.

    3. Cinema stones
This activity helps to understand what strata are and how the study of fossils allows us to recreate ancient environments and landscapes. We will learn about the formation of the Tremp Basin by reproducing the successive episodes of rising and falling sea levels.

    4. 1,2,3… Quaternary
We work on the evolution of the river network in the territory and observe how changes in its direction, slope, and force condition major changes in the landscape. We focus on the rhythm and scale of these changes, and work with music (Original soundtrack).

    5. Risky tales
The activity takes the example of the Puigcercós landslide of 1881 to talk about different natural phenomena that occur in the Geopark area and can become geological hazards. At the same time, examples from other Geoparks around the world are shown to highlight the differences in impact.

    6.  The Geopark of the future

The Prehistory Chest of the UNESCO Global Geopark and its Area of Influence

The goal is to understand what makes us human, starting from prehistory, by analyzing recreated objects from archaeological sites. These objects help bring students closer to various aspects of prehistoric societies (economy, food, technology, symbolic thought, communication, etc.).

This educational resource is the result of a collaborative effort between the Noguera Learning Camp, the Noguera Pedagogical Resources Center (CRP), and the Geopark Orígens.

It is available for loan at the Noguera Pedagogical Resources Center (CRP).
