The route
The terrain forms the ideal habitat for Mediterranean plant life as well as birds of prey such as the majestic bearded vulture. “Collegats viu i respira” (Collegats Live and Breathe) hides secrets and mysteries, with legendary spots such as the Serpent’s Cave, Hell’s Canyon, the Sleeping Giant or the ruins of the Sant Pere de les Maleses monastery.
What not to miss along the route
- Barranc de l’infern (Hell’s Canyon): Ideal for geologists and adventure sports enthusiasts, this place is filled with nature, myths, and legends.
- L’Argenteria: A spectacular waterfall made of limestone (tufa). It is recommended to visit in winter when the water running down the walls freezes and forms extraordinary ice stalactites.
- Monastery of Sant Pere de les Maleses: Peculiar monestir troglodític del segle IX, avui abandonat, ubicat en un indret màgic.
- The Sleeping Giant: An emblematic mountain (1,181m) shaped by the whims of geology and time. When viewed from the northeast, it resembles a reclining woman.
