Education in the Geopark
We make scientific knowledge accessible to the public.
As a UNESCO Global Geopark, one of our primary goals is the dissemination of our geological, paleontological, ecological and cultural heritage.
Education plays a key role in this area. Along these lines, we support educational projects, create educational resources and offer outdoor learning activities , both through the Geopark association and in partnership with local educational institutions.
Resources for schools
We’ve developed a set of guides, games, activities, and books for early childhood, primary and secondary school students. We also offer research positions in the Geopark for A-level students. These resources facilitate and complement the study of Earth Sciences for students of all ages.

Resources for universities
The Geopark is proud to support universities and students with their Bachelors and Masters theses, as well as internships. We also have a network of paleontological and archaeological museums and dig sites where university students can carry out their research.
Educational services in the Geopark
The Orígens Geopark territory extends across four comarques (counties). We work together with educational institutions in these regions and help promote educational services to enrich learning.

Summer camp: Reading life in the rocks
This programme links Earth sciences research and dissemination with community service, with a focus on preserving heritage in many places across the region.
Tasks
- Restoring the dry stone walls of the trails
- Clearing vegetation and cleaning the trails between Salàs and Rivert
- Restoring ancient trails
- Preparing areas for archaeological excavation
- Cleaning the ditches and areas around the salt flats
- Helping the archaeologists to extract rocks and dirt
Our courses and advisory services
The Geopark, together with universities and other institutions, creates and promotes courses for learning in nature.
These courses combine theory lessons with field trips, which address themes such as soil science, landscape study, climate change analysis and the life of the dinosaurs.
We also conduct training days and individual advisory services to help our partners deepen their understanding and transmit the values of the Geopark.

Educational offer from collaborators
The Geopark’s partner institutions conduct ongoing research into different aspects of the origins of the Earth within our territory.
With the knowledge they gather, they designate educational zones, produce educational resources and host activities to bring the results of their research to the wider public.
The future of scientific dissemination
GEOPARC ORÍGENS VIRTUALIS MUSEUM is a project born from the desire to make the results of our scientific research available to the public.
With the aim of realising this goal, we are compiling and digitizing our research and using it to produce virtual reality audiovisual content.
Using this large digital database, we will be able to create educational material, share scientific knowledge and equip the routes of the Geopark with virtual reality stops.
This project is funded by MICIU/AEI /10.13039/50110001103 and by the European Union NextGenerationEU/PRTR.
