- The meeting welcomed representatives from the museums and interpretation centers of the Geopark.
- This is the last of the eight Working Groups on different topics convened by the Geopark this year.
- The proposals and contributions collected in the different Working Groups will serve to define the strategic lines of the next Geopark Master Plan.
Yesterday, November 4, the Montsec Astronomical Park (PAM, Àger) hosted the Orígens Geopark Facilities Working Group. This is a meeting that brings together representatives of the Geopark facilities —museums, interpretation centers and visitor centers— with the aim of defining common lines of work and sharing experiences. Once the meeting was over, the participants were able to enjoy a guided tour of the PAM.
This is the last Working Group convened by Orígens Geopark within the cycle of annual sessions held in recent weeks, dedicated to areas such as geotourism, science, environmental volunteering, collaborating entities and education. These meetings have been organized within the framework of the Agreement between the Board of Economic Promotion of the Diputación de Lleida and Orígens Geopark, with the aim of improving efficiency in the achievement of objectives, sharing local agendas and compliance with the guidelines established by the UNESCO World Geoparks program.

These sectoral meetings will allow defining the strategic actions that will form part of the new Orígens Geopark Master Plan for the next four years, the result of a participatory process that includes the contributions of the main territory actors. The main purpose of this process is to involve the local population in the management and development of the Geopark, encouraging the people who live and work in the territory to internalize this collective project from their respective areas of experience.
This year’s Working Group on Museums and Interpretation Centers has addressed various topics such as visibility and promotion of the different centers and their activities, networking and the development of new products aimed at visitors. Ideas and proposals have emerged from the meeting aimed at supporting centers with fewer resources, and at promoting the creation of new materials for joint promotion. It is worth highlighting the will shared by all the centers to set up a network, coordinated by the Geoparc, which promotes cooperation between the different spaces in the organization of promotional campaigns, events, projects and new products. An initiative that clearly exemplifies the cooperation and collaboration spirit in the territory, one of the main axes of Orígens Geopark.
